Color Me Rad race
Color Me Rad is a 5k race that involves large groups of people running (or walking or pushing a stroller like I did last year) through a mowed down train in the woods while having paint through at them from many directions. It Uh-Maze-ZING!!!
One of the coolest things about this race is that every year they sponsor a non profit organization and encourage their racers to donate to them. This year they are sponsoring a non-profit organization is Virginia Beach’s Cystic Fibrosis. The best part about this race other than experiencing good times with great people, is that the nonprofit organization that Color Me Rad – VA BEACH is asking that everyone donate to in Virginia Beach represents those with Cystic Fibrosis, a very unfair disease.
The predicted median age of survival for a person with Cystic Fibrosis is in the late 30s.
This hits very close to home as Mini’s cousin has Cystic Fibrosis. So please when you register also donate $5 or more to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. They are the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:
- clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
- obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food
