Rain, shine or thunderstorm: we are running today!
My phone rings and it’s a little after 8 am on a Saturday morning. (Without my mini home this means I’m KNOCKED OUT.)
Thankfully my phone is on silent and I miss that and the two text messages that followed.
Turns out hearing the calls and messages would not have mattered anyway because by the time I woke up and called her back, she was already headed to my house to MAKE me get up!
It was kind of my fault…
“Do not bite at the bait of pleasure till you know there is no hook beneath it.”
You see, I come up with the most brilliant ideas during the night about all the things I’m going to accomplish when I wake up the next morning. Usually I just cannot get up to actually do them.
AS: Sleep. Always. WINS.
Whether it’s “I’m getting up early to clean my house” or “I’m going to get up early to start off my day being productive” or even “I’m going to wake up and spend special time doing a bible study so that I can start my day of right”.
ALL GREAT ideas at 10:00pm, NOT so
much at 6am, 7am, 8am, or 9am the following day.
Back to: Why it’s kind of my fault?
Like any other night, I was motivated to start my Saturday morning in the most productive way possible, exercising!
NO, she was REALLY, totally up for it!!
After the calls and texts, she was HERE at my house, ready to go! And she was ready to make me go to.
Although I was incredibly EXHAUSTED, we ran, in the rain, in the thunder just barley missing the lightening storm…
And it was GREAT!!!!
In the most freeing and somewhat cheesy way possible 🙂
The run, girl talk, breakfast and tea ended up being JUST what I needed to start my day.
Sometimes when we are not disciplined enough to exercise, take time to ourselves, to save money or just say no to more sleep. In those times, it is nice having a girlfriend or a spouse there to kick you in the behind and be the discipline you need.
But when they’re not around, WE are all we have, and therefore we must find a way to discipline ourselves.
*takes a big pill of my own advice*
Therefore, while 30 days of fitness will be taking place from now through August 8th I have dedicated this week to Discipline!
This is a topic that myself and a lot of women have openly admitted to me that we need to discuss.
I will start off tomorrows article with a fitness article featuring a VERY disciplined and motivating young woman and will follow up with more heavy, and even taboo, topics to discuss ways we do, we don’t, or we should practice self discipline.
Ps. Sorry for falling behind on the 30 days of fitness pictures!!
Just so busy actually living this stuff haven’t had time to write. No excuses. Back on track!!
