“I came before this digital ocean, where folks only move in digital motion…” – Elle Varner
Lately, as in the last 3-5 years, it’s been feeling like our generation totally missed out on some of the things our parents enjoyed growing up. My generation grew up during the “out with the old in with the new” era. Where mansions, SUV’s, microwaves and franchise businesses were preferred over thrifting, recycling, ovens (lol), and spending a Friday night supporting your locally owned coffee shop and/or grocery store.
I am ALL for convenience, but microwaved food is gross and my idea of a fairy-tale nowadays simply involves a drive-in movie date without a cellphone present to record it.
Well, Bergey’s Breadbasket provides a bit of nostalgia. Bergey’s is a family owned and operated Bakery, Deli, Creamery, farm, and Pumpkin Patch 🙂 We found our family pumpkins, loved on their sweet donkey and enjoyed homemade sweet potato ice cream all in one visit. What really makes this place a gem is how incredibly, friendly their employees are. This location had a city girl wishing she could spend more days like this… on a farm.
Here are a few pictures from our outing and we encourage you to support your local and family owned businesses 🙂 Enjoy!
