Wellness | How Your Thoughts Shape Your Life
Shaping Your Thoughts and Not Allowing Them to Shape You
It is easy to get wrapped up in the “hustle and bustle” of society today.
Always on the go and far too busy with email, work, and extracurricular activities to relax.
Because of this, we also often find ourselves anxious about what’s to come.
Are things going to work out?”
“I should have…could have…”
“Does he like me?
Do I look skinny?
Do I look fat?”
The list could go on and on.
The goal is to change that…
“Rather than being your thoughts and emotions, be the awareness behind them.”
― Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose
The human mind creates between 50,000-70,000 thoughts a day.
That’s between 35-48 thoughts per minute!
If you find that the majority of your 50,000 thoughts per day are negative, change it.
Your mind, like any other muscle, can be trained.
Such training begins by simply becoming aware of what you are thinking.
Be aware of your thoughts. Practice quieting your mind and work towards silencing your mind. Gain control; do not allow your thoughts to run chaotic and do not allow them to run your show.
Why are your thoughts important?
“The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.” ― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Your thoughts create feelings and emotions. These emotions are our inner guide! Paying attention to our feelings will [allow us to] know [whether or not] we’re on the right path.
In the midst of our everyday lives, the way we feel is the single most important factor that most people are missing. Today’s society has led us to believe that the most important things are material; money, cars, homes, clothes etc. However, it is becoming clear that even [those] who have [many] of these material possessions are still [lacking] in their lives. Of course the idea of having more money and bigger houses seem like it would satisfy all of the desires we feel. But, those emotions [are] temporary. Rather than feeling a sense of “without” now, it is possible to achieve the feeling of satisfaction, aliveness and fulfillment now, even before those manifestations are physical.
Manifestation of the emotion is key! Wellness is key.
Wellness is an evolutionary process, that begins with becoming aware and making choices toward a healthy lifestyle that will allow your true [self] to shine brighter than ever. Wellness is significant to us because all of our activities, thoughts and feelings affect our well-being. By feeling our best, we act out of those good feelings, rather than acting out through feelings of exhaustion, stress or worry. Pay attention to how you feel and CHOOSE to feel good now!
