“1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and get them sit ups right and tuck your tummy tight and do your crunches like this”
It’s time to workout!! YAY!!! For those of you who love working out that, “yay,” was not sarcastic at all.
Whether you love it or hate it, working out and staying healthy is an important part of every naturals hair journey. Once you find the time to workout, the question becomes what do you do with your hair???
Not to worry, I’m here with five easy, workout friendly hairstyles; one less reason for skipping that workout!

The Bun
This one is a no brainer.Β  Whether it’s high or low the bun is a great protective style for your hair. It’s super easy to do and keeps your hair out of Β hurt, harm and SWEAT!

The some up some down hairstyle works perfect for the gym.Β  This style allows you to keep the hair out of your face while still looking stylish and cute at the same time.Β  An extra plus is having some cushion for your hair when you’re on those mats doing those crunches.
Twists (Pinned or Out)
Twists are great workout friendly hairstyle because they keep your hair uniform.Β  At the same time you can pin them up or pull them back out of your face.Β  My favorite part about wearing my hair in twists to the gym is that after I leave the gym there is little to no maintenance once I get home.Β  I just go to sleep and wake up with a banging twist-out in the morning!

The Old Faithful Puff
Just like the bun, the puff is super easy and convenient. If you were wearing a twist-out or braid-out during the day, the puff is a great hairstyle to use to keep your hair up while you workout but still maintain the original style.Β  Or, if you’re like me, you can wear the puff all day, every day! I love puffs!

Ok, this style is for the bold ones out there.Β  If you’re feeling kind of 90s or Rihanna-ish, you can do your workout in bantu knots!Β  This style protects the hair and, like the twists, can be taken down and style’d out after.
There you have it, five easy workout friendly hairstyles! As always, make sure to keep your hair moisturized and never do any of these styles too tight.
Cheers to healthy hair and bodies!
Until next time.. Stay nappy my friends!
